The United States Congress passed the country’s first major standalone crypto bill. The landmark vote signals a sea change in the U.S. stance toward these digital currencies. The House approved the GENIUS Bill with a 308-122 vote with significant bipartisan support, adopting regulations for a type of cryptocurrency known as stablecoins that many believe will change the world of commerce for the better.
In this episode, Demian Schatt welcomes back Yaël Ossowski of the Consumer Choice Center and Bitcoin Policy Institute to break down the growing fight over AI regulation in the U.S. Yaël explains why a federal moratorium on state-level AI laws was proposed, how it fell out of Trump’s tech bill, and what it means for developers facing a patchwork of conflicting rules.

He highlights the threat of the “California spillover,” compares it to Europe’s AI Act, and argues that decentralized innovation needs clear federal standards, not 1,000 competing laws. From copyright lawsuits to energy restrictions on data centers, Yaël maps the legal landmines ahead and makes the case for open-source, privacy-first tools as the path forward.

Is your password healthy? | Yaël Ossowski on DC News Now's Tech Talk

https://youtu.be/M0iMct30mPg

It was published on the Kibbe On Liberty RSS podcast feed and YouTube page.

Won’t someone please think of the children? There’s a long history of politicians weaponizing supposed concern over protecting children to impose repressive legislation on the people. The latest example is the Kids Online Safety Act, a transparent attempt to smuggle widespread censorship past the people under the guise of keeping children safe. Matt Kibbe talks to Yaël Ossowski, deputy director at the Consumer Choice Center, about the importance of free speech and privacy online and the dangers bills such as this one create to a free and open internet.

Movement on Indiana's anti-CBDC legislation | WIBC 93.1

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGCF0S2pAuk

I joined Stephen Kent on WIBC 93.1 to break down the case for a bill blocking the use of CBDC’s in Indiana. Sen. Eric Koch introduced Senate Bill 180 (SB180) to prohibit state agencies from accepting payments made with a central bank digital currency for any service, tax, license, permit, fee, information, or other amount due the governmental body. It would also bar government agencies from requiring payments to be made with a central bank digital currency. This is good for consumers in Indiana.

Fox5 DC Interview: Elizabeth Warren's anti-tech economic populism is deceiving consumers

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olP84VwCyeM

I’m interviewed by Jim Lokay on Fox 5 DC on the latest legislative moves by Elizabeth Warren to undermine tech innovation.

From grocery store mergers and sandwich monopolies to the breaking of phone encryption and Bitcoin, she is consistently singing a progressive, populist message that too often views technology as something to wrestle and regulate. However, this style of political campaigning is all too present among both political parties.

Lessons from the recent policy wins on nuclear power in North Carolina – Interview with Nick Craig on Wilmington 980 WAAV

Today I was interviewed on Nick Craig’s morning radio program in Wilmington, North Carolina.

We chatted about nuclear energy’s status quo in North Carolina, recent policy victories, and why many pro-green activists aren’t championing the power of the atom enough for future electricity generation. We also touched on why solar and wind tech both are far from a silver bullet for either climate goals or creating enough energy to make us prosperous.

Heard Tell Radio: UAP Disclosure, AI, & Privacy

<img src="https://yael.ca/posts/heard-tell-radio-uap-disclosure-ai-privacy/images/UAP-disclosure_hu_d0d07dab6a58a5f3.webp" alt="" width="1024" height="1024" srcset="https://yael.ca/posts/heard-tell-radio-uap-disclosure-ai-privacy/images/UAP-disclosure_hu_35356403bce80c49.webp 480w, https://yael.ca/posts/heard-tell-radio-uap-disclosure-ai-privacy/images/UAP-disclosure_hu_d19043eb568586fa.webp 800w, https://yael.ca/posts/heard-tell-radio-uap-disclosure-ai-privacy/images/UAP-disclosure_hu_d0d07dab6a58a5f3.webp 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 840px) calc(100vw - 40px), 800px" loading="eager" fetchpriority="high"

To begin, I discuss the growing movement for government disclosure on UAPs (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena) or UFOs, and why it’s important for transparency and accountability.

To simplify it, we know the government has classified or withheld various projects, events, or sightings of things in our skies. There are also legitimate reports of craft retreival and reverse engineering programs, that could either be non-human technology or foreign technology from adversaries such as Russia, China, or elsewhere. There are now pending congressional bills or statutes that require elements of the executive branch (intelligence, military, or otherwise) to disclose this to the American people.

Consumers are skeptical about FTC's efforts to break up Amazon Prime

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gAMPEsz9cM

A high-profile trial between the DOJ and Google could reshape the mobile phone market.
