Marshal McLuhan and the Medium is the Message

I first read Marshall McLuhan’s Understanding Media: The Extensions of Man during my days in Canadian upper education.

The best way to understand McLuhan is as the ultimate meta scientist.

His writings and observations influenced advertisers, educators, and television producers in all kinds of elite circles.

If I can try my hand at summarizing his vast contributions, he focused on technological advances playing host to the rudimentary functions of the human body and mind, shunning the present and using the past and future to reinterpret how humans beings get along in a society.

Bastardized, of course, but it gets the point across.

Here are some other thoughts on McLuhan’s work.

I’ve created a YouTube playlist to get his full lecture from a 1977 TV appearance somewhere in Australia.
